چکیده

Profile curve reconstruction is crucial to surface reconstruction in reverse engineering. In this paper, we present a new constrained fitting method involving lines, circular arcs and B-spline curves for profile curve reconstruction. By using similarity transformation, we reduce the condition number of the Hessian matrix involved in the optimization process and, therefore, the numerical stability is significantly improved. Several industrial examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of our method. This paper describes a 2D constrained fitting method for profile curve reconstruction in reverse engineering. The method is an extension to the published methods for 2D constrained fitting. Further more, the numerical problem associated with constrained fitting is tackled in our paper. The described method has been implemented in RE-SOFT, which is a feature-based reverse engineering software developed by the CAD/CAE/CAM Lab of Zhejiang University. q 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Feature-based reverse modeling strategies

We presented two integrated solution schemes, sectional feature based strategy and surface feature based strategy, for modeling industrial components from point cloud to surfaces without using triangulation. For the sectional feature based strategy, slicing, curve feature recognition and constrained fitting are introduced. This strategy emphasizes the advanced feature architecture patterns from...

Constrained fitting in reverse engineering

This paper considers simultaneous fitting of multiple curves and surfaces to 3D measured data captured as part of a reverse engineering process, where constraints exist between the parameters of the curves or surfaces. Enforcing such constraints may be necessary (i) to produce models to sufficiently accurate tolerances for import into a CAD system, and (ii) to produce models which successfully ...

Target detection Bridge Modelling using Point Cloud Segmentation Obtained from Photogrameric UAV

In recent years, great efforts have been made to generate 3D models of urban structures in photogrammetry and remote sensing. 3D reconstruction of the bridge, as one of the most important urban structures in transportation systems, has been neglected because of its geometric and structural complexity. Due to the UAV technology development in spatial data acquisition, in this study, the point cl...

A Linear Initialization for Automatic Fitting of 3D Morphable Models

Morphable Models are dense 3D models built using PCA of aligned laser scanned data which is then fitted to images. During fitting, variations in illumination, pose and identity can be addressed by the rendering process; Morphable Models are therefore extremely useful for object modeling. One problem however is that Morphable Model fitting is slow since gradient descent methods are generally use...

Underground contour (UGC) mapping using potential field, well log and comparing with seismic interpretation in Lavarestan area

Coastal Fars gravimetry project in Fars province was carried out to find the buried salt domes and to determine characteristics of faults in this area. The Lavarestan structure was covered by 4203 gravimetry stations in a regular grid of 1000*250 m. Depth structural model of this anticline made in previous studies was based on geological evidences and structural geology measurements. In order t...
